★What is Oingo Boingo?

Oingo Boingo is an American new wave band formed in 1979 by THE Danny Elfman. They formed from a musical theatre troupe called "The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, that Danny had led and written for throughout 1972-1979. They used to be known for their high energy concerts and experimental music but now they're really known for their song "Little Girls." The group is made up of Sluggo Phipps (saxophone), Steve Bartek (guitar), John Avila (bass), Danny Elfman (he does just about anything), Dale Turner (trumpet), Carl Graves (keyboard), Vatos Hernandez, and Leon Scheniderman. They experienced a few line up changes but those are the ones who stuck around the longest.

Oingo Boingo's discography consists of 8 studio albums, 2 live albums, 5 compilation albums, 1 EP, 19 singles, one soundtrack album, and 2 tribute albums. Their first single was actually Only a Lad, which I find pretty cool considering it's one of their most known songs besides Little Girls and Weird Science. Their albums in order consist of, Only a Lad, Nothing to Fear, Good For Your Soul, Dead Man's Party, Boi-Ngo, Boingo Alive, Dark At The End Of The Tunnel, Best O' Boingo, Boingo, and Farewell (their live album).

My favorite album is definetely tied between Good For Your Soul and Nothing To Fear. The lineup for songs are both equally good in my opinion and it's hard to choose between the two albums. The best I can give you is telling you my favorite song from both albums. For Nothing To Fear, it's gotta be Insects and Nothing To Fear (But Fear Itself.) For Good For Your Soul, Pictures Of You. There's just something about the song that makes me dance. Very gothic.

I only started listening to this magnificent band a couple months ago. Like late 2022 I'd say? My memory is fuzzy, but anyways when I listen to Oingo Boingo I feel at peace even if I'm dancing my ass off. There's just something about their music that lifts my spirit up, I can't EVER be upset when listening to them, I promise you that. Also, I don't like any other bands like I do Oingo Boingo. Like I can't get into any bands other than them and it's insane!
